This new year-round home is located on the north shore of Mount Desert Island. Primary drivers for site design were arduous setback issues, floodplain elevation and preservation of notable ledge outcroppings.

Design inspiration included classic, shingled MDI cottages but with a decidedly streamlined building volume, an expansive deck overlooks the ocean with views to Mount Desert Narrows.  The dominant feature of this house is its two-story screen porch! The lower level is a classic screen porch situated off the Living Room and contains a fireplace. The upper level is a sleeping porch accessed from the primary bedroom suite.

This house lives well both inside and out.
