The real story for this house is site. The chosen building site was pre-determined by the owner for expansive views to the Atlantic Ocean. Sam Coplon, landscape architect, provided extensive site analysis and design services as we negotiated the oft competing issues of access, topography, utilities, orientation, views and, of course, budget.

The house design itself was the easy part of project. Net-zero energy was a mandate from day one. A linear organization of the building elements simplified construction on this steep site and optimized solar access for the mostly southeast facing site.

Maine Passive House

The builder, ECOCOR, brought their high-performance expertise and certified Passive House panelized building component system to the project. The result? An uber-tight building envelope constructed to stringent Passive House standards.
